Isla Mujeres Elopement Photography | Anna + Colin

There is something so romantic about elopements. If you are thinking of  exchanging your vows in a private ceremony with the one you love in the most beautiful destination location you can find look no further than the tiny island off the coast of Cancun in Mexico called Isla Mujeres. Although small in size, Isla Mujeres is diverse in geological character. It’s north shore has an amazing soft and white sandy beach, palm trees and the lapping warm waters of the Caribbean ocean while the south shore boasts limestone cliffs and crashing waves.

Anna and Colin wanted a bit of all this for their special destination elopement in Mexico so we took an Isla Photo Tour around the island. They choose to exchange their vows at Punta Sur. Standing together on the stone walkway surrounded by crashing waves and the limestone cliffs, our bride and groom held hands and shared sentimental, intimate words while the spray of the Caribbean ocean surged up into the air around them. So incredibly romantic. So special!! I was so honored to be there to photograph Anna and Colin’s destination elopement on the Mexican island of Isla Mujeres.

When you look at these highlights from Anna and Colin’s destination elopement in Mexico, you’ll notice that the sky was not it’s normal sunny and bright hue, but a deep, ominous blue. That’s because there were storms brewing all around us. When I picked up Anna and Colin at Privilege Aluxes where they were staying, the sky was dark and I was worried that it was going to rain on us. We headed to the south point of Isla Mujeres first as it looked brighter there. We were lucky it didn’t rain on us out there, but when we headed back to town it was raining pretty good so we stopped at Cafe Mogagua to wait out the rain. We only had to wait for about 10 minutes and we were off again taking photos in the rain-drenched streets in front of the colorful and historic buildings. The skies finally cleared enough for an incredible sunset. Not the normal ‘big red ball’ type, but amazing hues of burnt orange and yellow. It was truly spectacular!

I am so happy for Anna and Colin and was blessed to have photographed their destination elopement in Mexico on Isla Mujeres!
