Marriage Proposal and Engagement Photos on Isla Mujeres | Chris + Allyson

Chris and Allyson met working together. Chris was smitten by her right away, but had to settle on being friends as she was dating someone else. Over the next year and a half, their friendship grew and when Allyson was single again, Chris made his move.

Fast forward four years to their vacation in Cancun at the Riu Hotel. Chris contacted me a few weeks back and said he wanted to propose to Allyson at the cliffs of Punta Sur. After looking through my gallery, he choose the spot he was going to pop the question and I sent him step-by-step instructions on how to get over to the island and to ‘the spot’.

All was going smoothly until the day he was going to pop the question. The weather was horrible…overcast and super windy so I reached out to him to see if he wanted it move it to the next day which we did. The next day, the sun was out and it was going to be the perfect day to propose…until I reached ‘the spot’ to find another guy there waiting to secretly propose to his girlfriend! What are the chances that this specific spot was going to be used for the same purpose on the same day at the same time! So….as Chris and Allyson where on the ferry heading over to the island, I texted him what was happening and shared instructions on getting to the new spot. This second location was still at Punta Sur and is absolutely stunning so I was sure Chris would like it as much.

In the end, it went off without a hitch and Allyson was overjoyed with the proposal and her new fiancé! After the initial excitement, I went up to introduce myself to Allyson and explained that Chris had hired me to capture the special moment and now were were going to take their engagement photos. Allyson was walking on a cloud through the whole session and Chris was completely overjoyed as well. It was a magical day for this incredible couple!
